With seven participants, KTmfk was strongly represented at the 8th World Tribology Congress. Held every four years, the conference took place in Rio de Janeiro for the first time from September 20 to 25, 2026, bringing together more than 1,000 participants. Ten parallel sessions covered topics from all areas of tribology. KTmfk contributed four oral presentations, one poster presentation, and an elevator pitch on current research in biotribology of total knee replacements, bio-inspired DLC coatings, the use of machine learning in rolling bearing calculations, and contact simulations of rough surfaces. A particulary pleasing recognition was the elevator pitch, which received an “Honorable Mention” for the Best Pitch Award.
