The Chair of Engineering Design (KTmfk) at FAU supported the student working group High Octanes in the development of its latest electric racing car. The initiative participates in the international Formula Student competition, in which teams from around the world independently design, manufacture, and test racing cars on the track.
As part of the cooperation, the chair was able to draw on existing industry contacts and facilitate a collaboration with Schaeffler. Through this connection, the team was provided with special wheel bearings for the vehicle’s drivetrain.
The supplied components make an important contribution to the technical performance and reliability of the electric racing car. Particularly in the area of highly loaded drivetrain elements, precise and robust bearing solutions are essential for efficiency and driving dynamics.
With support from both academia and industry, the project highlights the close link between university education and practical engineering work. For the students of High Octanes, the collaboration also provides valuable insights into real development processes as well as access to industrial expertise.
