Since early April, Julian Hippmann has joined the lightweight design group as a research assistant. As part of the “GUIDE” project, he is working on the development of a new generation of orthoses, using spinal braces as a case study. The focus is on integrating an innovative structural optimization method into the product development process to specifically reduce the weight of the orthoses. In addition, research is being conducted on solutions to improve process of putting on a spinal brace. In his further work at the chair, Mr. Hippmann will develop a corresponding structural optimization method, analyze various design concepts, and validate the results through a patient study.
