The early involvement of users is a key success factor in product development, but poses a challenge due to time, cost and scalability requirements. A recent article in the journal *Konstruktion* outlines approaches to using digital user testing in the early stages of the product development process. It systematically classifies cognitive, psychological and physiological methods and assesses their potential. The concept presented supports the selection and combination of suitable methods to evaluate user experiences and ergonomic aspects at an early stage and to enable targeted, user-centred product design.
