KTmfk receives Pahl-Beitz Prize and WiGeP Innovation Award 2025

The winners at the presentation of the Pahl-Beitz Prize and the WiGeP Innovation Award

The KTmfk – Chair of Design Engineering at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg received two awards at the 2025 fall conference of the Scientific Society for Product Development (WiGeP) at Chemnitz University of Technology. Dr. Benedict Rothammer received the Pahl-Beitz Prize for his dissertation “Amorphous carbon layers for increasing the service life of total knee endoprostheses.” The WiGeP Innovation Award was presented to the team led by PD Dr. Jörg Miehling, David Scherb, and Patrick Steck for their “Research into novel, virtual design methods for structurally optimized passive ankle orthoses.” We would like to congratulate all the award winners on these outstanding achievements, which provide important impetus for sustainable product development and medical technology.
