Students from the Chair of Engineering Design on an excursion to Schaeffler

On July 4, 2025, students of the courses “Tribology & Surface Technology” and “Rolling Bearing Technology” visited the Schaeffler company in Herzogenaurach as part of an excursion. The event offered the participants a comprehensive insight into the technologies, production processes and career opportunities of the globally active automotive and industrial supplier.
After the welcome, an impressive tour of the modern Technology Center for Materials and the so-called “Motion Hub” took place. The participants were then given a detailed impression of the production processes on site as part of a general tour of the plant.
A particular highlight was the tour of the coating center, where innovative surface technologies are used on an industrial scale. The technical part of the excursion was followed by a joint lunch in the canteen, which provided space for informal discussions.
The tour concluded with a presentation by the Employer Branding Team on career opportunities at Schaeffler. The visit not only provided technical insights, but also enabled a practical exchange between science and industry.
