Product and process design synthesis of additively manufactured mechanisms

Software architecture for product- and process design synthesis
Software architecture for product- and process design synthesis

Knowledge from the AM manufacturing process about how certain process variables affect the product requirements must be considered early on in the product design phase. In its latest publication, the KTmfk has presented a method for simultaneous product and process design synthesis in the sense of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM), whereby this knowledge can be provided at an early stage for tolerance- and manufacturing-compliant product and process design. This is achieved through an ontology-based knowledge representation and its integration into a development environment. The aim is to make this knowledge available for specific products and applications to utilise previously unused potential in the interaction between the various domains.
