Robust and data-driven design of versatile joining connections

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has extended its funding for the Transregional Collaborative Research Center TRR285 “Method development for mechanical joinability in versatile process chains” for another four years. The focus of the research group is on the development of scientific methods and tools to increase the versatility of mechanical joining technologies. In particular, the findings of the SFB TRR285 will ensure long-term joinability for different requirement profiles without the simultaneous implementation of costly adjustments or physical validation tests.
The Chair of Engineering Design (KTmfk) is represented with the subproject “Methodical Design of versatile Joints” and will focus on the robust and data-driven dimensioning and design of mechanically joined assemblies in the 2nd funding period.
