Ontology for linking data-driven methods and the product development process

The transformation of virtual product development to digital engineering requires a successful integration of data-driven methods into existing product development processes. The lack of knowledge about these methods, their performance and limitations are major burdens in their application, especially for SMEs. To close this gap, the AI4PD ontology was developed within the research project FORCuDE, which links both domains. The ontology supports the selection of suitable methods for integration into the process and at the same time enables the structured collection of already implemented use cases of digital engineering.
