The design of modern mobility concepts has to account for developments such as the finite nature of fossil fuels, global warming, and the increasing population density in urban centers. In urban environments in particular, so-called micromobility solutions offer a way of covering short distances (e.g. to the next public transport stop) in an energy-efficient manner. For this purpose, an electrified cross-skate was developed and realized at KTmfk, which is equipped with a hybrid driving mode in which the person driving moves in the skating technique and is supported by an electric motor. This innovative operating method was filed for a patent at the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) and patented on December 20, 2022 under DE102019212389B4.
