Stress distribution of chassis in virtual vehicle when driving over digital rough road surfaces

E-Mobility and lightweight design pose new challenges in the development of vehicle chassis, especially in terms of ensuring durability. Therefore, in collaboration with our industry partner MAN Truck & Bus SE in Munich, an approach to design real hardware test rigs in a virtual environment has been developed before physical prototypes are available. This involves transforming the loads from driving maneuvers and rough road testing into simplified load cases and load collectives. The basis for the virtual design is a simulation model of the complete vehicle combined with digital road profiles. This collaborative project was funded by the Bavarian Research Foundation over a period of 2 years.
