Transfer of IMU-based motion measurement data to musculoskeletal models in OpenSim.

As an alternative to marker-based motion capture systems, IMU-based systems can also be used to collect motion data. These systems allow flexible motion collection without nearly any restriction regarding the environment. However, one limitation is that there is no universal way to transfer IMU data into musculoskeletal simulation software such as OpenSim. Our recent publication describes a method to transfer IMU-based motion capture data stored in BVH format to OpenSim. The motion can then be visualized and analyzed using musculoskeletal models.
